The EBV ELISA is intended for the semiquantitative and qualitative detection of IgM- and IgG-antibodies against Epstein Barr Virus. A diagnostic statement with regard to seronegativity, suspicion to an EBV primary infection or past EBV infection can be made when combining the two antibody classes.
